Went to lunch here with a friend. Ella had a poor personality. When we asked what the "service fee" was on the check, we were told for using the computer and a tip pool. She also told us she would only get 1 cent of the tip pool so it wasn't "really" for tips. There wasn't anyone else in the place, but found it a chore to do refills. Food was ok, but go anywhere other than this place. It isn't worth it. You will quickly have buyer's remorse. No salt or pepper available? Interesting. One good thing - manager came over and asked how everything was.
Iām not impressed. The club is just poorly managed and always has been. Just like every other club that is owned by a āmanagement companyā that charges outrageous and totally unjustified fees. A $12,500 intiation fee!!!! For what!!!? You get NOTHING for this money! NOTHING!!! They excessive fees while they sit back and provide very few services that would justify the ongoing monthly fees. They canāt even keep water cups stocked by the water dispensers. They donāt provide free water bottles anywhere. Beyond that, they allow groups of 5 to play (5-somes) out on the course foo offen, which turns nearly every round into a 5 hr slow death. And they do nothing about complaints. Iāll bet they laugh at you as you leave if you complain. Anyway.. people who join clubs like this one (Trophy Club) or any ClubCorp property, or other corporate-owned club; you will never be happy, and they DO NOT CARE. Just throw them the money. Lantana, your greens are great, your bunkers suck though. What? You canāt afford sand with those huge unjustified initiation fees? Do your members know what you do with that money ?
How far has this club gone downhill over the past few years, particularly this year in the eyes of this longtime member? Hereās a few ways: Going to 7.5 minute tee times this year. Fivesomes. 4.5 hour or longer rounds on the weekends. The course getting overplayed and conditions suffering because of that. Less maintenance so bare spots in the fairways, greenside washouts, no sand at the bottom of a bunker, and walking bridges āfixedā just enough to cause a trip and fall lawsuit. Same guys getting the morning tee times every weekend. Too many tournaments in the good weather months. A range that floods out with little rain despite a recent renovation. Range balls with no dimples. And management that responds to Google reviews but not to member concerns. This is now a public course experience under the guise of a private club.
Very nice atmosphere and the course is amazing. Very challenging.
As a member at Weston Hills in Florida I played this as a reciprocal. The hospitality is warm and welcoming. The greens are in excellent shape, fast and true. The pro shop and bar/restaurant area have clearly been renovated recently as theyāre very nice and modern. I hope the renovations Arcis is currently undertaking at my home club turn out as well as they have done here. Unfortunately there was a storm so I could only play the front 9, but it was very enjoyable with a really fast pace of play (under 3 hours).
